The Verizon Center Washington DC opened in December 1997 and was originally called MCI Center. It is a very popular and actually quite a tech savvy sports and entertainment venue located right in NW Washington D.C. above the Gallery Place / Chinatown Metro stop. The Verizon Center DC is the home to the NHLs Washington Capitals, the WNBAs Washington Mystics, the NBAs Washington Wizards, as well as the NCAAs Georgetown Hoyass mens basketball team.
